The Art Residency of the Fifth Switzerland is a cultural exchange project for Swiss artists living abroad and will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2026. The aim is to establish a platform in Brunnen at Auslandschweizerplatz that serves as an artistic link to Switzerland. Every two years, a young Swiss artist from abroad is invited to Brunnen to work for at least four weeks in a local studio or gallery. Alongside this, a public programme takes place at Auslandschweizerplatz, offering insight into the artists’ work and promoting cultural exchange with the local community.
Vincent Ineichen becomes guest artist
Last October, we shared the call for applications for a guest artist for the Art Residency of the Fifth Switzerland. We are now pleased to announce, together with the organisers, the good news: Vincent Ineichen has been selected as the artist for the 2026 residency. Vincent is a sculptor and media artist living in Toulouse. In the anniversary year of the residency, he will realise his sculptural concept in Brunnen and at other locations across Switzerland. His site-specific concept aims to bring the prehistoric past of Lake Lucerne into the present. The three-month stay will give him the opportunity to develop his work in dialogue with the Swiss landscape and the local population.
About the Art Residency of the Fifth Switzerland
The Art Residency of the Fifth Switzerland is a cultural exchange project for Swiss artists living abroad. A platform is to be established in Brunnen at Auslandschweizerplatz that serves as an artistic link to Switzerland. Every two years, a young Swiss artist living abroad is invited to Brunnen to work for at least one month in a studio. The Stiftung Auslandschweizerplatz is responsible for the project’s conceptual and structural framework, supported by the Organisation of the Swiss Abroad (OSA) and, from 2026 onwards, in collaboration with the Centro di Cultura e d’Arte Ascona.
